Assistant Superintendent of Business/Finance - Dr. Jim Cummins 

Dr. Jim Cummins is a 1984 graduate of Neosho High School. He attended Missouri State University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting. After working in the accounting field for several years, he attended Missouri Southern State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education. Dr. Cummins worked in the technology department for the Neosho School District for a semester before being hired to teach business classes at the high school. During his five years teaching, he taught Marketing, Business Law, Business Publications, Computer Programming among others, was a DECA sponsor, and coached football, baseball, softball and golf. Additionally, Dr. Cummins earned a Master’s Degree in Secondary Administration from William Woods University in 2003. In 2004,

Dr. Cummins became High School Principal at Diamond High School. The following year he was hired as the Superintendent of the Wheaton School District. During his tenure there he completed his Specialist Degree from William Woods University and Doctorate from the University of Missouri. In 2008, he was awarded the New Superintendent Award for the Southwest District of the Missouri School Administrators Association. Following three years at Wheaton, Dr. Cummins left to become the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations at Carl Junction where he served two years prior to joining the central office staff at Neosho.

Dr. Cummins’ wife, Renee, has taught fourth grade in the district for 22 years. They have three daughters: Shelby is a sophomore at MSSU, Catie is a senior and Bailey is an eighth grader.
