Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program that is utilized by elementary school libraries to ensure that students are reading at the appropriate reading level.  Each book in the elementary school libraries are marked with a colored dot, issued by AR.  The dots represent the grade level range of that book.  To view a diagram of the color codes, please click here.

The inside cover of any book that is checked out from our school libraries contain two important numbers.  The first number is the "AR Reading Level", which is the grade level of the book, and the second is the "AR Points", which is the maximum amount of points that will be rewarded for reading that book.

You can also determine if the books you have at home are in the AR database, by using the search engine on the AR website!
