tested over the material, an assignment may not be turned in. Bell Ringers are due the same day they are assigned or within 5 minutes the next day after an absence.

Bell-Ringer: List at least three examples of contributions made by the Egyptians in architecture and art and at least three examples of advancements the Egyptians made in the fields of science and mathematics.

Finish Egypt: Quest for Eternity

Explain what the Egyptian kingdoms were, how they developed, and why they collapsed.

Activity/Application: With a partner, create a timeline beginning with the date 2650 B.C. and ending with 200 B.C. and have the periods of the Old Kingdom (2650 to 2180 B.C.), Middle Kingdom (2040 to 1650 B.C.), and New Kingdom (1570 to 1100 B.C.) marked on it. Illustrate the time line with important events in Egypt’s history during each time period.

Old Kingdom =pyramids, science, art, civil war

Middle Kingdom =Hyksos rule Egypt, falls into disorder

New Kingdom =empire, strict government, army, conquering of new territories

Bell-Ringer: Write about the best day you ever had.  (At least ½ page)

Activity/Application: Complete a guided reading and a main idea sheet over Chapter 2 Section 1.

Lesson: Look at the treasures of the excavation of King Tut’s tomb and see why it is so important to us today.

Activity/Application: Fill out graphic organizer while viewing the video.
