Middle School - Extra Curricular

7th Grade Activities Program
To participate, students must have a current physical, meet and observe the Wildcat Standards and MSHSAA Standards (available in the principal's office)
Football

A mandatory parent meeting for 7th grade football players will be Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 5:00pm in the Middle School cafeteria (The Patio). All players are required to have a physical and proof of insurance to participate in practices. Practices start Monday, August 15, 2011 at the MS practice field. Players will need shirts, grey t-shirts and their own football shoes for practice. All football equipment will be provided by the school. There is no cost to participate.
All games are played at 5:30pm at NHS football field and surrounding school districts. "A" game followed by "B" game.

2011 Volleyball Schedule

A mandatory parent meeting for 7th grade volleyball players will be Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 5:00pm in the Middle School cafeteria (The Patio). All players are required to have a physical and proof of insurance to participate in practices. Practices start Monday, August 15, 2011 in the MS gym. Times are TBA. Players will need shirts, grey t-shirts and their own volleyball shoes for practice. Uniforms will be provided by the school. There is no cost to participate. 
All home games - 7th "B" then 7th "A" games played at Neosho Middle School Gym. 

Cross Country

All players are required to have a physical and proof of insurance to participate in practices. Practices start Monday, August 15, 2011.  Practice schedule is as follows: 3:30-4:30pm.

Athletes will be transported by bus to the practice location each day. Parents will pick up their students from the practice location at 4:30pm.  Mondays  ............  Carver Elem.

First practice will be Tuesday, March 1. Practice will be from 3:30 to 5:00pm Monday thru Friday. The first week of practice (March 1-4) will be held at the Middle School from 3-4:30. Starting March 7th, practice will be held at the High School Track. Practices will be held in the MS gym, on the HS track and on Sr. Hill. Distance runners may also run various longer routes through town.  After school you will dress out in the Middle School locker rooms, then sit on the bleachers and wait for Coach Depoe to take roll. We will be bused from the Middle School to the High School everyday. We will not come back to the Middle School.

Special Olympic Basketball

In order for your child to participate he/she will need to have a current physical on file. Completed physical forms must be returned by March 18th or your child will not be allowed to participate.

Practice Schedule:

3:15-4:30. Parents please be there to pick your child up at 4:30 from each practice.

We will practice shooting, dribbling and learning the basics of basketball.

As this is our first year to have Special Olympic basketball, we will not be traveling to other schools for games. We will have games among those that are at the practices. In this way, we will be ready to participate next year in all Special Olympic basketball games.



Technology Student Association (TSA)
Technology Student Association is a National and State organization for students. Leadership and opportunities in technology, innovation, design and engineering are all a part of TSA. Students are working on many 'hands on' projects and technological projects. The chapter team is practicing Parliamentary procedures for competition. Several students are working on speeches and researching for presentations. We will compete on March 6th at Jay Ok and March 8th at NEO College in Miami, Ok. We are competing with Aerospace, Structural engineering, graphic design, medical challenge, prepared speech, chapter team, problem solving, career challenge, communication challenge, dragster design, and digital photography.



Student Council (STUCO)

STUCO is a service organization at the Middle School that consists of 24 students who are either chosen by their teachers or elected by their peers. We are involved in many things including the Food Basket Brigade, Special Olympics with the special ed students at our school. Student Council serves as ambassadors for the Parent Conferences, they raise and lower the flags of the school and prepare the school's donations of Easter Baskets for the Kansas City Mercy hospital.

Intramural Program
For all fifth, sixth and seventh grade students. Activities will be held Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 3:15 - 4:15 pm. The program will be emphasizing cooperation, social skills, and sport skills. We would like every student to come and join the FUN! Students must be picked up between 4:15-4:25pm.

1st Semester Program will consist of the following:
 Football:  September 8 - October 13
 Game Room:  September 8 - October 13
 Volleyball:  September 8 - October 13
 Basketball:  October 27 - November 24

2nd Semester Program will consist of the following:
 Volleyball:  TBA
 Basketball:  TBA

Tutoring
Each team of teachers offers tutoring at various times throughout the week to help students who are having difficulties or are not keeping up with the class work. If a student needs to stay for tutoring, the teacher will send a note home asking for the child to stay after school within the next few afternoons. Tutoring ends at 4:15pm and students will wait on the patio or front door area to meet their ride home.


After School Program
The After School Program is a more in depth and regular program for students to get tutoring on a daily basis. Each student must apply for enrollment into this program. An enrollment form can be picked up at the Middle School office.  The program runs Monday thru Friday from 3:15-4:15 and then they will be transported to the Neosho YMCA to have recreation time. Students must be picked up by parents at or before 6:00pm from the YMCA.
